The Institute for Community Living, Inc. (ICL) is a not-for-profit organization that began in 1986 by assuming sponsorship of a 150-bed residential program serving people with serious mental illness in Brooklyn. Since then, ICL has developed an additional 1200 housing units offering a variety of living options to disabled New Yorkers. ICL assists people with mental and developmental disabilities who need opportunities to improve their quality of life and to participate in community living by providing high quality services and support. We serve over 6,000 people in Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
We are currently looking for Skill Builders/Drivers to provide services to our developmentally disabled clients in a residential setting. These services involve encouraging, guiding and training individuals in developing daily living skills and habits, taking care of their personal needs, assuring community integration, ensuring the health and safety of individuals, and maintaining the service environment.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED and ability to provide direct services to adults with mental retardation and/or developmental disabilities. Related experience not required – Will be train. Ability to drive a van and current clean New York State driver`s license is a Must.
Preferred Education And/Or Experience:
Direct Care experience with people with mental and/or physical disabilities. AMAP, SCIP-R, CPR/SFA certified
