System Administrator
WebMediaBrands is seeking a System Administrator to join the IT team in the building and support of existing web sites. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter looking to bring innovative solutions to operational support needs and work with other IT areas to initiate web site solutions for business objectives. This position is part of a rebuilding plan to grow IT staff needs and is an opportunity to be part of a growth period for the company.
The candidate needs to have experience in supporting multiple web sites and infrastructure needs and a strong desire to establishing proactive operational support tools for a diverse set of systems and the desire to be part of the growing need for new social media IT solutions.
Responsibilities:
*Managing and supporting Linux and Windows web servers, DB servers
*Maintaining and updating systems and tools to improve security, stability, and manageability.
*Be involved in every facet of the company`s webserving platforms, from design issues to troubleshooting, from performance analysis to capacity planning, from DNS to networking
*Wear many hats: first responder, performance analyst, service architect, system administrator, capacity planner, tools developer, monitoring expert
Qualifications:
*3-5 years experience administering Linux systems, preferably in a high-availability, high-traffic Web production environment
*Advanced knowledge of Linux operating system
*Proven technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience
*Solid scripting skills in Shell, PHP, Perl
*In-depth experience with MySQL, Apache, PHP, Perl
*Hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches
*Familiarity with Intel-based server hardware
*Familiarity with network and system security tools
*Experience with server virtualization solutions is a plus
*Good communications skills. Able to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
*Ability to handle simultaneous projects and tasks
