Who we are:

We are a 2,000 sq. ft. traditional hobby shop (yes, we have glue and balsa and things) but with lots more besides and activity space for everybody from kids to adults. We also have a proven mail order business and a range of original product offerings waiting to roll out.



We need a manager who can help us institute best practices and standardize them with the aim of expanding to additional stores within NYC and additional offerings in the store(s) and on-line. The current owner / management team are unable to devote the store the attention it requires to do this and we are looking for somebody who can grow with us and can help us across all aspects of the business.





Who you are:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Depending on your starting skill set we will be adding to your responsibilities as you and we feel that you are ready.



Ultimately, we expect your duties to range across:

· Sales

· Customer Service

· Staff Supervision

· Staff Development

· Business Administration

· Business Development



Qualifications & Skills:

· Strong customer service, staff training and supervision, and increasing company revenue.

· Organizational skills with ability to execute and follow-through.

· Ability to perform routine duties independently, setting priorities and scheduling own work in accordance with pre-arranged performance goals.

· Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.

· Ability to work with shared leadership and across functional areas.

· Must be computer-literate and proficient in programs such as Word, Excel and Quickbooks and must be able to learn other software programs.

· You should not be “all thumbs”. You will not routinely be required to perform any manual tasks for the store, but we are by definition a “hands-on” environment and you will need to learn basic hobby skills so as to be comfortable advising and supervising people about these activities.

· Some personal hobby experience is a strong plus. We don’t care if it’s Warhammer, helicopters, trains, or plastic models, but if you’ve done it, please describe it to us in in your email. On the other hand, beyond this, we have the materials in place to help you pick up all the specific knowledge that will be required.
