A Secondary Boys School situated in Central London, require a Teaching Assistant whose primary responsibility is to support children with Special Educational Needs, to join their staff as soon as possible. This popular school is well supported by staff, parents and governors with strong links in the community. Both staff and pupils are proud to be a part of their successful establishment.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
Working within an established SEN department providing one to one support with specific pupils of the KS3 and KS4 age range
Working under the direction of a class teacher where you will follow and implement IEPs (Individual Educational Plans)
Preparing resources and teaching materials for the individual pupils that support the lessons as well as working through individualised activities
Assessing and monitoring pupil progress and development
Creating a positive learning environment where it is essential to promote inclusion
Managing pupil behaviour
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a Secondary School, is desired. Additionally the ideal candidate will:
Be patient and empathetic towards pupils
Have a real interest in supporting with SEN pupils
Be flexible
Be able to use his/her initiative
Have an understanding of what it means to support pupils with special needs
